SKI TRIP!:
Ah, Senior Year is in its final stretch as we come up to midterms and then our last two quarters as Villa Joseph Marie High School students. With that thought in mind, I’ve been meaning to take advantage of every single opportunity I can to live my life to its fullest in these next months.
Sitting here eating my Ramen noodle soup on a Wednesday night, shielded from the “dangerously cold” weather outside, I’m reminded of a similar experience at the Villa-sponsored ski trip just a week ago. I was completely wrapped up in about 17 layers of snow gear at that time, of course, but I can’t deny the similarities. Inside our bus, my best friends and I were warm and comfy and, most importantly, together as we were shielded in a similar way from the rapidly increasing snowfall outside the windows of our bus.
I had never been on the ski trip before this year, due entirely to the fact that I’m a subpar skier. That didn’t hold me back this time. And gosh, am I glad I went.
My best friends and I skied the day away all while watching the clouds overhead darken into the blizzard that would entertain us on the ride home. Jack Frost Big Boulder was a beautiful mountain, and had an excellent number of hills that were at Katie-level (green squares). Kidding aside, I only fell twice! My friends hit some difficult black diamonds, which I did not even attempt. Together, we conquered the mountain, and had a wonderful ride home in the building snow as we watched "Monsters University."
I am so blessed to have been a part of another new experience from Villa, even so close to graduation! This school never runs out of fun plans for its girls to participate in; it’s truly amazing. I can’t wait to try even more new experiences as the year progresses, up until my very last day as a student here in May.
It’s finally our year. 2014, here we come!
